Helen McCarthy has been the coordinator of the Redemptorists Mission Stamp Burse for more than 40 years and expects to retire someday. She is looking for a volunteer to carry on the work for the Stamp Burse when she does.
This work involves receiving packages of stamps (mailed and hand delivered), sorting them, cutting them to the proper size (leaving ¼” around the stamp), boxing them for sale to a local buyer and sending form thank you letters to donors approximately every 6 weeks. She is also responsible for the bank account for the Burse which involves depositing cheques when the stamps are sold and issuing cheques to the Redemptorists every 3 or 4 months.
The money raised from sale of the stamps goes to the Canadian Food for Children Mission Fund run by Dr. Andrew Simone who sends food, clothing and school supplies to 3rd world countries through local missionaries. The Redemptorists match the donations made from the Stamp Burse.
If you know of anyone who would be interested in taking over this very worthwhile and important opportunity, please contact Fr. Mark Miller or myself at 416-789-3217.
