By Susannah Johnson
I write to you in this issue of Connections to introduce myself as a new member to your team. My name is Susannah Johnson and upon Pat Csinos’ retirement, I am the new Director of the Canadian Certificate for Youth Ministry Studies. I am very happy to be working for you and with you to spread the Good News to youth as I promote and coordinate the training of youth ministers in Canada. If you go to the CCYMS website (www.ccyms.ca) , you will find my bio below:
Although born in Toronto, Susannah considers Ottawa her home town as most of her childhood was spent there. After high school, Susannah went to France and lived at l’Arche for two years near Trosly. She then returned to Ottawa where she received her Ecclesiastical Bachelors in Theology from St. Paul’s University. (Her MTS is from St. Peter’s and King’s College, UWO.)
Susannah’s professional life has been primarily as a chaplain. First, with cadets in a military setting and then in an acute care facility in Midland, Ontario where she and her husband Christopher lived for seven years. Two years ago they returned to Toronto.
Susannah brings her education and experience with youth and adults alike to her position as director of the CCYMS program. She enjoys reading, walking, cycling and practices hatha yoga. Above all, she likes to commune with God when she sails and camps with her husband and little dog Juniper on Georgian Bay. She can be reached at (416) 789-3217 or director@ccyms.ca.
I look forward to getting to know better the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer and the charism you bring from your founder St. Alphonsus Liguori. In the meantime, blessings to you and those you hold dear in the love of Christ, who is indeed our most Holy Redeemer!
