On May 19th, Redemptoristine Sister Pearl Mutter, OSsR, celebrated her Diamond Jubilee here in Toronto. She lives in community with other Redemptoristines at St. Bernard’s Convent, owned and operated by the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood.
In attendance were Redemptoristine Sisters Moira Quinn, Maria Paz Suarez, Hildegard Pleva, Margaret Reid, Anne-Marie, and Maria Celeste, and Mary Cecilia. The Redemptorist Novitiate Community was also present. Concelebrating the Mass at her diamond jubilee were Redemptorist Fathers Mark Miller, Jon Hansen, Santo Arrigo, Tom O’Rourke, and Remi Hebert.
Sister Pearl’s Jubilee was quite festive: Lots of food, drink, cake and ice cream. We sang “For She’s a Jolly Good Sister.” When pressed for words of wisdom, Sister Pearl expressed her gratitude to God for the blessings she has received as a Redemptoristine Nun over the past 60 years.
On a side note, the Redemptorist Novitiate Community picked up the Liguori, Missouri community sisters, Anne-Marie and Maria Celeste, at the Toronto Airport. From their first hour, the sisters expressed a desire to visit Tim Horton’s and Dollarama—two institutions that many in Canada take for granted. Their Dollarama wish was granted when Brother Raymond Pierce, CSsR, gave them a ride to Toronto’s Pearson Airport.
